Avery Island

Also known to some as McIlhenny Island! Wouldn't it be great if we can make a trip here while in town for either the engagement party or the wedding...

They have an amazing Bird City, tours of the Tabasco factory, and a preserve called Jungle Gardens.

LeJeune's Bakery

Mmmm, French bread.
The location of this bakery is, oh, say 5 houses down and across the street from where my parents live. My mom used to send me here for a loaf on Sundays when she'd make garlic bread. I'm hoping that'll make an appearance at the engagement party! (hope, hope.)
I bought Scott one of LeJeune's shirts cause their bread is just so good that I thought the next best thing to eating it was wearing it. He gave the shirt it to Shayne. Then he stole mine to replace the one he gave away. Bugger.

Annnd... Go!

Hi Everybody,
We've started a blog to let you know what you can do in Acadiana when you come for our wedding celebrations! We will periodically update this as we think of fun things to do. We know of some really wonderful places to eat, and some interesting cultural places to visit. So as we think of them, we'll try to spotlight the fun bits.

If you are visiting from out of town, chances are you'll be staying in the neighboring city of New Iberia. Here's a link to their website: http://www.cityofnewiberia.com/home.html

Amusingly, the first item listed under Area Attractions (under Visitor Information) is The Jeanerette Museum! It really is a neat place, but it doesn't have a website that I can find. It's also located very close to my aunt and uncle's house where the festivities will be taking place. 337-276-4408 is the museum's phone number if you're interested in paying them a visit.
